We have been incubating a project of EPIC proportions!

10 Days. Dozens of artists and performers....ONE HUNDRED unique stories!
The Decameron will transform the Fort Mason Firehouse into The Oekolos, a post-disaster enclave where artists, actors, dancers, and aerialists from the Bay Area and Europe have taken refuge from the chaos beyond the walls. For ten nights, we will open our gates to the outside world and share our stories in a Festival featuring art, dance, theater, music, poetry, circus arts and more. Join us for this banquet of human expression!

This is an immersive, one of a kind event: a concept-driven contemporary re-imagining of a historical fiction: Giovanni Bocaddio's Il Decamerone.

We, the Citizens of the Oekolos, welcome you to enter our home, a place of refuge, a creative eden in the face of dark times.

This project was conceived by Karl Gillick and Marije Nie. Check out the website for our team of awesome and incredible artists!

Each night will be different and feature an after-event celebration in the creative safe haven of Oekolos!

Please purchase your tickets now, plan to come with friends and support this labor or love and inspiration! This is a highly collaborative project and an immersive artistic-performance environment.

BUY TICKETS NOW to the night of your choice. Certain nights will sell out quickly.:

SPARK: A BURNING MAN STORY opens the 12th San Francisco Documentary Film Festival.

Thursday June 6 at the Roxie Theater (3117 16th St SF)

Peek behind the curtain of Burning Man and the San Franciscans who produce it, attend it and create art and experiences at one of SF's most famous creations.

After the party, join festival staff, filmmakers and special guests at Soma StrEat Food Park (11th at Bryant) for an open air party with DJ Haute Mess (Brass Tax), live music by The Six Million Dollar Band (the best TV theme song cover band in the world) and more!

Your ticket stub gets you a drink, delicious chocolates from Barlovento, tequila ice cream (!) from Abel and food trucks, beer and wine will be on hand to help make the festival kick off FESTIVE!
This year the film fest presents over 60 great non fiction films from around the world and around the Bay. Featuring quirky topics, of-the-moment issues, and personal stories that make this fest one of the best selections of documentaries anywhere.

The festival will take place at the Roxie (SF, June 6-20), Balboa (SF, June 7-9), Aquarius (Palo Alto, June 9-11), New Parkway (Oakland, June 14-16) and Rio (Santa Cruz, June 21-23).

The UK, Finland, Chile, Brazil, Georgia, Russia, and Sweden are just some of the 15 countries represented this year. If you like your docs fresh and local, we’ve got that too: more than a dozen titles feature Bay Area filmmaking. Among them, we’re proud to host Steve Brown and Jessie Deeter, directors of our Opening Night Film SPARK: A BURNING MAN STORY; Simone Jude, director of the world premiere PUBLIC SEX, PRIVATE LIVES; and Cullen Hoback, director of Closing Night’s TERMS AND CONDITIONS MAY APPLY. Many more filmmakers and subjects are expected to attend, so stick around for the always-excellent Q+As after the show.
As always, we'll be livening things up even more with some cool parties. Our infamous New Wave Sing-A-Long is back and better than ever with LADIES OF THE ‘80s. We also recommend checking out the OPENING NIGHT PARTY at SOMA Stret Food Park, ROLLER DISCO at the Women’s Building, PUB QUIZ, a BINGO! party and a live show with HEWHOCANNOTBENAMED (from the Dwarves) and Rin Tin Tiger co-produced with Radio Valencia.

Full Festival info is available at www.sfindie.com.

Burning Man 2013 Desert Arts Preview - Annual Artist Lecture Series

Friday, June 14, 2013
6:00pm-8:25pm (Speakers begin at 6:05pm SHARP!)

FREE admission!

At the Koret Auditorium in de Young Museum

Venue graciously provided by: de Young Museum
50 Hagiwara Tea Garden Dr, Golden Gate Park
San Francisco
(415) 750-3600 for museum info

Come early to enjoy the museum and take your seat in the Koret Auditorium at 6pm.

This is our very popular annual artist lecture series, where you get a sneak preview of some of the many notable art projects in progress right now for Burning Man 2013. You'll hear from artists who are creating revolutionary works of art, often in radically collaborative ways. Some have been creating work for the inhospitable tabula rasa of the Black Rock Desert in Nevada for many years and will be sharing war stories. This is also the perfect opportunity to learn how YOU can get involved and support these and other artists at the Burning Man event and year-round—as we increasingly seek to place interactive, collaborative and community-generating works of art in cities around the world!

Each speaker will have approximately 10 minutes, so please arrive on time. This event is free and part of the free Friday Nights at the de Young series.
http://deyoung.famsf.org/deyoung/fridays

Also arrive early at the de Young and enjoy Urbanauts, a wonderful artist collaboration between Sean Orlando and Rebar, hosted by the de Young and supported by the Black Rock Arts Foundation and the James Irvine Foundation.
http://blackrockarts.org/projects/civic-arts/urbanauts

If you can't make it, look up Burning Man art projects at the link below and directly contact these and other artists/projects as you feel inspired. Get involved and help make the art you wish to see in the world!

Burning Man presents... CARNIVAL OF CULTS! - June Flambe Lounge

Saturday, June 15th
9pm to 3:30am

At The CULTure Factory, 525 Harrison St, San Francisco
21+ over venue

Artists, theme camps, performers and DJs wanting to participate in this event-ing of community and creativity should email flambelounge@burningman.com

CARNIVAL OF CULTS Theme: Some wonder if Burning Man is a cult. If we are, then we are a DIY cult where members are encouraged to think for themselves and wash their own brains! For this evening we invite you to create your own imaginative, playful, satiric, retro-absurd or future envisioning cults. We encourage you to dress and act the part, create midway games, processional groups and bizarre rituals to inspire followers to join you.

Bring your cult of personality and beliefs to life in a collaborative and creative manner. You might create a roving theme camp cult of pious platypi seeking to recruit new members for its art colony. Perhaps you are a closet alien cult leader on a galactic campaign to save the Cosmos! Prepare YOUR message and indoctrination ritual! We welcome your creative and collaborative interpretations of this playful and poignant theme—whether you are a cult of one or many. It’s up to you!

To bring your art, theme camp, or perform please email flambelounge@burningman.com today! Any and all are welcome whether thematic or not.
